Youth Basketball Player Code of Conduct

 

As a player in our youth basketball program, you are expected to uphold the following standards to ensure a positive experience for everyone involved:

 

1. Respect for Others

  • Respect Teammates: Support and encourage your teammates both on and off the court. Celebrate their successes and help them improve.

  • Respect Opponents: Treat opponents with respect, both in victory and defeat. Competitive play is encouraged, but always with good sportsmanship.

  • Respect Coaches and Officials: Listen to coaches and officials, follow their instructions, and accept their decisions with grace. They are here to help you improve and ensure a fair game.

 

2. Fair Play

  • Play by the Rules: Follow the rules of the game and the specific guidelines of our program. Fair play is the cornerstone of the sport.

  • Honesty: Play with integrity. Do not cheat or engage in unsportsmanlike behavior.

 

3. Effort and Attitude

  • Give Your Best: Always give your best effort during practice and games. Your commitment to improvement benefits the whole team.

  • Positive Attitude: Maintain a positive attitude even when faced with challenges. Your attitude can influence your performance and that of your teammates.

 

4. Safety and Well-Being

  • Prioritize Safety: Follow all safety guidelines. Inform a coach or official if you are injured or feeling unwell.

  • Healthy Lifestyle: Commit to a healthy lifestyle, including proper nutrition, hydration, and rest. This helps you perform at your best and supports your overall well-being.

 

5. Teamwork and Cooperation

  • Communicate Effectively: Share information and feedback constructively. Open communication fosters better teamwork and understanding.

  • Be a Team Player: Support team goals and cooperate with teammates. Understand that individual success is linked to the success of the team.

 

6. Commitment and Responsibility

  • Be Punctual: Arrive on time for practices and games. Your punctuality shows respect for your teammates and coaches.

7. Conduct Outside of the Game

  • Represent the Team Positively: Conduct yourself in a manner that reflects well on the team and program, both online and in person. This includes being respectful on social media.
